Licensing options for those academic and commercial customers wishing to directly access OPCRD data and data services.
Access to single study dataset
An anonymised patient or record level study-specific dataset is provided under ethics (adept) approval for a limited period (usually 12 months) to the client to analyse for an ethically approved study. This service does not include any study analysis by our team.
The study-specific dataset is extracted according to the inclusion and exclusion criteria of the client’s adept-approved study protocol. The client must provide or approve the relevant code list(s) for the inclusion and exclusion criteria to be applied to the opcrd database to extract the required dataset. Opc can compile the required code list(s) which are not already available in-house for the client at an agreed collaborative cost.
The turnaround time for a study dataset following adept approval is 2 to 3 weeks depending on the complexity of the study, code lists required and the type of dataset to be provided (i.e. Raw or analytical). The client is provided password-controlled access via secure vpn to the study dataset on opc servers for an agreed number of users.
Two types of data sets available
Raw dataset

Minimal pre-processed dataset according to the study general base population.

Suitable for researchers who are experienced in working with raw real-world data.

A dataset creation fee is charged for code lists compilation and data processing.

Service charge: the cost accessing a single raw study dataset from opcrd is determined by the data licence fee plus the raw dataset creation fee.
Analytical dataset

Detailed processing of dataset according to study inclusion and exclusion criteria, and all key study variables (if recorded) are provided for each patient in the dataset.

Suitable for researchers who are not experienced with working with “raw” real world data.

Service charge: the cost accessing a single analytical study dataset from opcrd is determined by the data licence fee plus the analytical dataset creation fee.
Governance and approvals: all studies must be reviewed and approved by adept, the independent ethics committee that governs access to opcrd, before limited access to the anonymised study dataset can be granted.

The cost of obtaining ethics approval from adept is not covered in the above pricing as this is independent of OPC. The client will need to submit an application with the study or project protocol to adept. Access to anonymised copy of OPCRD
An anonymised patient or record level copy of OPCRD is provided for conducting an unlimited number of research studies approved by ADEPT and feasibility assessments. The data is updated or refreshed monthly with extracts from participating practices. The data access is provided for 12 months under a limited data sharing agreement. Access can be renewed on an annual basis. The data provided includes all patient electronic health records (EHR) data and patient reported information or outcomes (questionnaires) data.
Upon signing of the relevant DSA, access to OPCRD is provided in 2 working days. Up to 5 nominated users from the client are provided password-controlled access via secure VPN to the a copy of OPCRD on OPC servers. Data querying advise and support is provided to clients as part of this access.
